Time for tea on Day 21 of our Archaeology Advent Calendar!<\/p>\n\n\n

Ceramic teapot from Winnall Mill, Ombersley (\u00a9 North Worcestershire Archaeology Group)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

This ceramic teapot was found during our excavations at Winnall Mill a few years ago. Though it looks nearly complete now, when we dug it up it was in nearly thirty pieces strewn across a rubble layer – one heck of a 3D jigsaw puzzle! Dating to the early 1900s, it’s an example of the distinctive ‘Brown Betty’ teapots<\/a> that once graced the tea tables of millions of British households, and a charming glipse of everyday life in the old mill cottage a generation after it stopped grinding corn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
